ABOUT THE PRINT AND MY PROCESS:

American Pilgrim is a photograph that encapsulates the feeling of hiking the Appalachian Trail. Showing a single hiker and single white blaze, the fog obscures the surroundings. The Appalachian Trail traverses 14 states and a multitude of environments, but the rain, fog, white blaze, and hiker, are the true steadfast features of the world’s most beloved trail.

Each print is hand printed by yours truly using a fine art archival ink fibre paper that is exceptionally similar to traditional darkroom prints. The back of each print is stamped for authenticity, dated, signed, and numbered to signify which print your have in the 100 print run.

Prints from this run are priced to sell and profits will be used to continue to fund my “American Pilgrims” project and associated work to bring it from the thru hike to the pages of a book.

SHIPPING:

• Ground Shipping via USPS for $10, and Fedex and UPS for $15. Shipping comes with tracking and insurance. Expedited shipping is an additional fee. Prints ONLY ship in the USA, including Alaska and Hawaii. For international purchases, contact me for a custom quote on shipping. Local pickup in Nashville TN available for free.

• The prints arrive in durable kraft tube mailers. Once you receive it, keep the print in it’s plastic sleeve and lay gently on a clean and even surface upside down. Place a few books larger than the print over it. Let it sit overnight or for a day or two, and the print will be perfectly flat again.

MATTING + FRAMING TIPS:

• While these images technically benefit from a custom frame job, an 8×16 frame with a custom mat would work well for this image, as well as a 10×18 frame and custom mat. For most people, including serious photography aficionados, the difference between the custom frame and the above sizes is almost indistinguishable. If you can’t support your local frame shop at this time, these frame sizes are commonly found online with many economical options that don’t break the bank. Hobby Lobby would do a fine job matting these.

• Museum glass will always look best, but it’s expensive. If you use regular framing glass, consider the areas of your home or office where glare from light sources won’t interfere with your ability to look at it.
