LAURA E. PARTAIN | Journal Entry #17: Early James at Easy Eye Sound, a recording session

On an early fall day in 2021, I went to Easy Eye Sound here in Nashville. I have to say, it’s a studio I particularly feel partial to, though this was my first time photographing there. Checkered floors adorned with vintage and otherwise lovely recording studio equipment, Nashville’s finest session players, and at the helm of the operation, Dan Auerbach (Black Keys) and Allen Parker in the control room. Anytime I get to play witness to an album being born, it’s a special experience as a photographer. So here is Early James, making permanent the songs for What a Strange Time to Be Alive. This album cover for these songs was then later photographed by my very dear friend Jim Herrington, whose work can be seen HERE. Enjoy the photos from our Easy Eye session!
