LAURA E. PARTAIN | Journal Entry #19: Tylynn Allen Recording at Castle Studio, Featuring the late bassist Michael Rhodes

This weekend we tragically lost the legendary and powerhouse bass player, Michael Rhodes. Last May in 2022, I was fortunate enough to photograph a session that he was on. Rhodes, whose musical resume spans decades of iconic songs and albums, was the bassist for my friend Tylynn Allen’s session session last year. Getting to watch him work was inspiring. A calm and steady person and bass player, laying down grooves for countless tunes. He forever left a powerful and long lasting mark on music and music makers alike. My thoughts and sincerest prayers are with his family, friends, and music community, all of whom loved him dearly. Anyone who got to play, or have him play on their music, is incalculably blessed.
